Aseni Wickramatillake, MBBS, MPH
Dr. Aseni Wickramatillake is an MBBS qualified doctor with experience in the National Health
Services in the United Kingdom. She holds a postgraduate degree in Public Health with a focus on
Environmental and Occupational Health and Safety from the University of Louisville, USA. This
underscores her comprehensive understanding of environmental and occupational health
principles and practices. Dr. Aseni is also trained as a lead auditor in ISO 45001.
Dr. Wickramatillake has demonstrated exemplary leadership and commitment to shaping policies
and promoting best practices in occupational health and safety both locally and internationally.
Her roles as Secretary of the Workplace Safety and Health Association (WSHA) in Sri Lanka and
National Secretary of the International Commission on Occupational Health (ICOH), as well as
her involvement with Workplace Health Without Borders (WHWB) as a Board Member and the
Society of Occupational Medicine (SOM) U.K, highlight her dedication to advancing the field and
representing Sri Lanka on international platforms. She is a trained mentor through the ROSPA,
Loreal and Nike programme for global women in safety and health, empowering women in the
field.
Furthermore, Dr. Wickramatillake's commitment to education and research is commendable, as
evidenced by her roles as a visiting lecturer at prominent institutions including state universities
in Sri Lanka. Her contributions to research in occupational health-related content, including
publications in prestigious international journals, reflect her dedication to advancing the field.
Dr. Wickramatillake's extensive experience as a practitioner, consultant, and trainer in
occupational health and hygiene as well as workplace environmental health further underscores
commitment to improving OSH among the communities. Her contributions to numerous
multinational and local companies across various industries, including manufacturing,
pharmaceuticals, hospitality, plantation and technology, have significantly enhanced workplace
health and safety standards and employee well-being.
