Healthy workers are fundamental to the health of organizations and communities. Yet efforts to advance workforce well-being remain fragmented across employers, industry experts, and health insurance carriers. All too often, these essential conversations are entirely void of input from the most important stakeholder: the worker.

“Perspectives on a Healthy Workforce” convenes diverse stakeholders to break down silos, bridge gaps, and generate solutions for workforce health promotion. Panelists from professional societies, industry-leading employers, national health insurance carriers, and employee groups will share priorities, experiences, and insights in workplace health promotion, highlighting current challenges while exploring models that maximize worker engagement and employer benefit via evidence-based initiatives. Through interactive discussion and audience engagement, the session will identify opportunities for collaboration, innovation, and sustainable impact. Participants will leave with actionable strategies and a shared vision that a flourishing workforce is a driver of organizational success and global health.

Educational Gaps: Occupational medicine physicians may be unfamiliar with certain, essential aspects of workplace health promotion, including lifestyle medicine, population health, data analytics, mental health, and implementation science. Navigating these topics from the perspective of various, interdependent stakeholders is a particularly essential skill in this space.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify at least three current gaps in workforce health promotion efforts across industry norms, employee uptake, and employer-based implementation.
  • Describe at least two strategies that could be applied within participants’ own organizations to successfully collaborate across stakeholder groups and silos.
  • Develop one actionable idea to enhance integration of workforce health promotion into occupational medicine practice or organizational policy.
