Robert K. McLellan, MD,MPH (he/him/his)

Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth

Robert K. McLellan, MD, MPH, FACOEM, FAAFP is a Professor, Active Emeritus at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth. He retired as Chief of the Section of Occupational and Environmental Medicine of Dartmouth Health, where he was also the Medical Director of Dartmouth-Hitchcock’s Live Well/Work Well program, a comprehensive, integrated health promotion, disease management, and health protection program for Dartmouth Health employees and their families. He earned a BA from Yale College, an MD from Yale Medical School, and an MPH from the Yale School of Public Health.

Dr. McLellan’s work focuses on opportunities to understand and manage the relationship between work, the environment, and health. He has cochaired the National Academy of Medicine Action Collaborative on Business Engagement in Building Healthy Communities and serves on the New Hampshire Governor’s Advisory Council for the Recovery Friendly Workplace, ACOEM's Council on Government Affairs, the New Hampshire Health Care Workers for Climate Action Advisory Board, and the Faculty Advisory Board of the Irving Institute for Energy and Society at Dartmouth. He is a past president of ACOEM and NEOEM.

Dr. McLellan has written extensively and lectured nationally and internationally on various aspects of OEM. Relevant to this session, he has co-authored The Guide to the Medical Evaluation for Respirator Use, now in its second edition. He has been the Principal Investigator of several OEM grants and was a co-recipient of the NIOSH NORA (National Occupational Research Agenda) award for innovative research. He is the recipient of numerous other awards, including ACOEM's Lifetime Achievement award, the NIOSH Total Worker Health® Founder’s Award, and the Harriet Hardy Award from NECOEM.
