Session Description: Occupational and environmental medicine offers many different paths, from clinical practice and corporate leadership to consulting, academia, and even entrepreneurship. In this session, a panel of OEM physicians will share their own experiences and lessons learned on getting started, building skills, and steering a career for long-term success. Topics include board certification, fellowships, certifications, and how to approach job searches, interviewing, and contract negotiations. Panelists will also highlight opportunities in corporate medicine, the military, startups, and public health. Whether you’re early in training or planning your next move, this discussion will give you practical tools and perspectives to help shape your future in OEM.

Educational Gaps: Many OEM physicians enter the field without clear guidance on career pathways, certification options, or strategies for job search and negotiation. This session addresses the gap by providing practical insights, resources, and experiences to help physicians make informed decisions and advance their careers.
