Dr. Michele Kowalski completed residency training at the University of Pennsylvania and is board certified in Occupational & Environmental Medicine as well as Family Medicine. She is currently serving as Associate Physician Diplomat at the University of California San Diego Center for Occupational and Environmental Medicine where she is leading the development of Occupational Medicine in UCSD’s Community Care Initiative.
Before moving to California, she was an active member of the Pennsylvania Medical Society where she served on the Opioid Task Force to create opioid and benzodiazepine guidelines and advocated for responsible prescribing. She also worked on the NIOSH Compendium Project studying the interrelationships of these medications with worker health and workplace hazards, and is currently in the process of developing education with NIOSH on this topic.
