Hiroko Furo, MD, PhD, MSES, MS, MA, DFASAM, MRO, IME, SAP is a board-certified physician in Occupational Medicine, Addiction Medicine, and Lifestyle Medicine and is board-eligible in Clinical Informatics. She currently serves as Medical Director of Sozo Health LLC.
Dr. Furo is an addiction and occupational medicine physician with extensive clinical, educational, and scholarly experience in urine drug testing (UDT) interpretation. She has published and presented nationally on UDT science and its application in clinical and workplace settings. Her work focuses on improving diagnostic accuracy, reducing stigma, and advancing evidence-based, compassionate approaches to substance-use testing.
Through her multidisciplinary training and interactive teaching approach, Dr. Furo aims to equip clinicians with both scientific rigor and clinical empathy in the interpretation of UDT results, supporting worker safety while promoting patient dignity and well-being.
