A.Clarke Darlington MD, MPH, CPS/A is the National Medical Director for Occupational Medicine for Premise Health.
Dr. Darlington oversees the quality and directs the future development of Premise Health’s occupational health programs -- serving as a consultant and mentor to providers, directors of operations, clients, and business development; supervising and developing training programs; assisting in the development of occupational health performance measures; and serving as the local medical director for sites that require high-level occupational health expertise. As an experienced physician leader, he provides the expertise and experience needed to assure a best-in-class occupational medicine program.
As a board-certified occupational medicine physician with over 35 years of experience, his professional activities include the design, delivery, and evaluation of quality improvement and training programs for occupational health (OH) providers.
Dr. Darlington’s most important role involves weekly OH teaching by means of required teaching webinars, mentoring sessions, and line of service calls for nurses. His role is key in keeping Premise health medical staff at sites nationwide trained in the core content of occupational medcine and the latest developments and trends in occupational medicine. In addition, he authored the online Premise OH learning modules in Accelerate. Dr. Darlington also performs consultations daily for medical staff and clients on occupational health issues at Premise client’s sites.
Dr. Darlington became interested in occupational medicine while he was an engineering student at the General Motors Institute (now Kettering University) in Michigan. He earned his board certification in family practice following the completion of a family practice residency at Regional Medical Center in Kentucky.
Dr. Darlington was awarded a Master’s in Public Health (MPH) from the Medical College of Wisconsin in 1991 and became board-certified in Occupational Medicine in 1992. He is a certified MRO and CPS/A (Certified Professional Supervisor in Audiometry) for CAOHC hearing conservation.
