Gregg M. Stave, MD, JD, MPH is a consultant in Occupational Medicine and Corporate Health and Medical Professor in the Division of Occupational and Environmental Medicine at Duke University. He spent 15 years as a corporate medical director for GlaxoSmithKline, most recently as Director, Strategic Health Planning.
During his years at Glaxo, the organization received numerous internal and external awards ACOEM Corporate Health Achievement Award, the Koop Award, and the Institute for Health and Productivity Management Award.
Dr. Stave received his undergraduate degree from MIT (Life Sciences), his MD and JD from Duke University, and an MPH (Epidemiology) from UNC-Chapel Hill. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Preventive Medicine (Occupational Medicine) and is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, the American College of Preventive Medicine, and ACOEM.
Dr. Stave was a member of the ACOEM Board of Directors for 6 years and was founding Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Occupational and Environmental Health Foundation, serving for 15 years. He served as Chair of the Duke OEM Residency Advisory Committee for more than 20 years and as Chair of the Board of Directors for Prevention Partners for 8 years. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the NC Alliance for Health. He is the immediate past-president of SEACOEM.
Dr. Stave is co-editor of the award-winning Physical and Biological Hazards of the Workplace, currently in the third edition. He co-edited the State-of-the-Art Review in Occupational Medicine on the Pharmaceutical Industry. He is the author of more than 50 book chapters and peer-reviewed articles. He is a recipient of the 2024 ACOEM Executive Committee Outstanding Achievement Award for the ACOEM Guidance Statement on Long COVID and the 2025 ACOEM Lifetime Achievement in OEM Award.
