The Torchlight Initiative
Colonel Daniel C. “Danny” Sebeck is a career officer with over 20 years of service in the Air Force and Space Force, including duty as a missile combat crew commander and instructor at Malmstrom AFB. He was diagnosed with uncurable non-Hodgkin lymphoma linked to his ICBM service, a reality that deepened his commitment to protecting the health of his fellow missileers. Danny helped establish the Torchlight Initiative, which has built the first self-reported registry of more than 900 cancer and illness cases from the missile community, published analyses exposing flaws in past environmental studies, and successfully elevated the issue to Congress and the Department of Veterans Affairs. He has personally briefed lawmakers, pressing for policy change and presumptive exposure recognition, while advocating for his own health and that of his peers. Through his service and advocacy, Col Sebeck continues to fight for accountability, independent research, and long-overdue care for those who operated, maintained, and protected America’s nuclear deterrent.
