Dr. Nicholas Tsourmas received his medical degree from Georgetown University in 1978. He initially began post graduate training in Internal Medicine at Penn State University but after internship transferred to George Washington University and completed their Orthopedic Residency Program. He moved to Austin, Texas in 1983 and began the clinical practice of orthopedics in a multispecialty group but after 3 years began his own orthopedic group practice still functioning today and known as Southwest Orthopedic Group. He has retired from the clinical practice of medicine since 2018 but remains active in at the university level the clinical aspects of orthopedic and occupational medicine. He currently has adjunct or affiliate appointments UT System Tyler and Houston and Johns Hopkins University. He has been the Medical Consultant/Director of Texas Mutual Insurance Company since 1993 and been active in that aspect with developing internal systems of medical reviews and the establishment of centers of excellence in worker’s compensation health care throughout the State of Texas. He is here at AOHC 2025 as a faculty member representing active clinical research developed by the Johns Hopkins Research Group.
