Dr. Berneking is a highly respected occupational medicine physician and a leader in his field. As Bronson ProHealth’s Medical Director, he works with local and national representatives of some of the nation’s largest employers both providing medical care and consulting on a variety of occupational medicine, transportation, regulatory, and substance abuse testing topics. With his extensive experience and expertise, he has been recognized as a fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP), the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (ACOEM), and the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM).
Dr. Berneking has a special interest in sleep medicine, particularly as it impacts the transportation industry. This led him to chair the American Academy of Sleep Medicine's Sleep and Transportation Task Force, and he continues to serve as a consultant to the Public Safety Committee for the Academy. As an occupational medicine physician, he is in a unique position to advise and contribute to the duties of that committee which have included developing position statements, legislative advocacy, and publications at a national level.
In addition to his leadership roles, Dr. Berneking is a sought-after speaker at national, regional, and state conferences, where he shares his insights and knowledge on a wide range of topics. He is also recognized as a transportation expert, making him a valuable resource for companies and organizations looking to ensure the safety and well-being of their employees and passengers. He is a Senior Aviation Medical Examiner for the FAA and a certified Medical Review Officer as well. As Lieutenant Colonel Berneking in the U.S. Army, Dr. Berneking has the privilege to serve as a Flight Surgeon. He has deployed several times and remains active in the military aviation community.
