Chief Medical Officer
bp
Dr Steve Iley serves as bp’s Chief Medical Officer, bringing a wealth of clinical and corporate health leadership experience to the role. His career has spanned continents and cultures, having worked in diverse environments including Siberia, Singapore, Australia, and Bermuda. This global perspective has shaped his approach to health, industrial hygiene, and wellbeing—ensuring that bp’s people are supported wherever they are in the world.
Steve’s journey into occupational medicine began with a snake bite-a pivotal experience in Pakistan, which sparked a deep interest in the intersection of health and work. Since then, he has held senior roles across industries, including as Chief Medical Officer at Jaguar Land Rover, before joining bp. At bp, he leads with a clear mission: to embed health into the fabric of the organisation, aligning it with business performance and resilience.
Looking ahead, Steve is focused on driving transformation—both in how health is valued and how it contributes to bp’s broader goals. He champions evidence-based strategies, collaborative innovation internally and externally, and a culture where people can thrive. Whether it’s through brain health initiatives, global partnerships, or crisis preparedness, Steve’s leadership is shaping a healthier, more resilient, higher performing bp.
