Dr. Vanessa Casanova is an accomplished researcher, educator, and advocate in occupational and environmental health, with a focus on rural health, labor issues, and worker safety. She joined the faculty at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Tyler in 2013, where she teaches in the MPH program and contributes to the Department of Preventive, Occupational, and Environmental Medicine. Her research explores agricultural health, heat illness prevention, and environmental impacts on vulnerable populations, including publications in journals such as Journal of Agromedicine. Dr. Casanova has been recognized for her teaching excellence, receiving the 2019 Regents' Outstanding Teaching Award from The University of Texas System, and she emphasizes mentoring students while balancing research and service commitments.
