Judith Green-McKenzie, MD. MPH (she/her/hers)

Professor
University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine

Dr. McKenzie is a Professor at the University of Pennsylvania, where she was the inaugural OEM Division Chief and Residency Program Director, and a Penn Master Clinician. She served as Professor (PAR), Executive Director for Health, Safety, and Environment, and OEM Division Chief at Johns Hopkins and is currently a Medical Officer and Medical Director of the Medical Examination Program at OSHA. Dr. McKenzie began her academic career as a Clinical Assistant Professor at New York University/Bellevue Hospital. A Fellow of ACOEM and of the Royal College of Physicians of London, she serves as Director on the Boards of ACOEM and the American Board of Preventive Medicine and is Associate Editor of the Journal of Occupational and Environmental Medicine. She has received numerous honors, including ACOEM’s International Lifetime Kehoe Award for Excellence in Education and Research, its Adolph G. Kammer Merit in Authorship Award, and its Executive Committee Outstanding Achievement Award. She is also the recipient of OSHA’s 2024 Secretary’s Honor Award for Exceptional Achievement for promoting workplace health and safety and received the U.S. State Department Medallion for leading the care of diplomats injured in Havana, Cuba. Dr. McKenzie has chaired multiple committees of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine. Author of over 150 publications and named among the top 10% most cited preventive medicine physicians (2021), she contributed the OEM chapter to the Goldman-Cecil Textbook of Medicine. Her impactful research focuses on work as a social determinant of health, occupational and environmental exposures, injuries, illnesses, and infectious diseases, graduate medical education, the cost of work disability, employee wellness/burnout, and heat-related illnesses. A Princeton and Yale School of Medicine graduate, she completed her MPH and OEM Fellowship at Johns Hopkins and her Internal Medicine residency at NYU/Bellevue.
